Senior Java Backend Developer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable server-side applications using Java and J2EE.
• Build and secure high-performance REST APIs for frontend and backend communication.
• Optimize server-side application performance, scalability, and security.
• Partner with UX/UI designers on backend support for complex frontend features.
• Collaborate with product teams to refine and implement technical business requirements.

Technical requirements

• Deep expertise in Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in relational databases, specifically Oracle, PostgreSQL, or standard SQL.
• Mastery of Git or Bitbucket and API documentation frameworks such as Swagger.

Qualifications and competencies

• At least 7 years of backend software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Understanding of backend architecture and software development principles.
• Experience in Agile environments; strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and collaborative communication.

Nice-to-have skills

• Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of React.js is an added advantage.
