Role overview

Audit strategy and delivery

• Develop and implement a risk-based annual audit plan aligned with organizational strategy and risk appetite, and present it for approval.
• Oversee the audit lifecycle, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up, in line with applicable standards and regulations.
• Review audit working papers, evaluate controls and risk management, and recommend practical improvements.
• Prepare actionable audit reports and monitor recommendation implementation, reporting remediation progress to the Board Audit Committee.

Leadership and stakeholder work

• Lead the audit function and develop the team through coaching, training, and performance management.
• Maintain relationships with senior stakeholders and coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and other assurance functions.
• Use data analytics and audit technology to improve coverage and insights; advise on new initiatives, systems, and organizational changes.
• Maintain audit methodologies, support investigations and advisory assignments, and identify and report departmental risks.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Professional audit qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, or CPA.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, primarily in insurance, with knowledge of its business cycle, regulations, and accounting standards.
• Experience leading audits and projects, supervising work, building senior stakeholder relationships, and developing audit professionals.

Skills and tools

• Strong internal audit knowledge, risk-based planning, analytical ability, accuracy, and professional judgment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; data analytics and audit technology are used to improve audit work.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills; integrity and discretion are required.
