Health Actuarial Manager – Analytics & Pricing

Role Overview

Pricing & Portfolio Analytics

• Lead pricing and portfolio analytics across Corporate and SME health portfolios.
• Develop and enhance pricing models for new business, renewals, and experience-rated portfolios.
• Analyze profitability, loss ratios, claims trends, medical inflation, utilization, and portfolio performance.
• Identify pricing gaps, emerging risks, and opportunities to improve portfolio profitability.

Claims & Cost Analytics

• Analyze claims and provider data to identify cost drivers, unusual utilization, and potential leakage.
• Support cost-containment initiatives, provider performance analysis, and network optimization.
• Provide actionable insights to strengthen underwriting and claims decisions.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Develop dashboards, management reports, and early-warning indicators for portfolio and pricing performance.
• Translate complex analytical findings into recommendations for senior management.
• Ensure pricing, portfolio, and performance data is accurate, structured, and fit for purpose.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner with Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Network, IT, and Distribution teams on pricing and profitability initiatives.
• Support product and benefit development through data-driven analysis.
• Work with actuarial teams on pricing adequacy, claims development, and business planning.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement across pricing and analytics processes.

Experience & Insurance Expertise

• Have 7+ years of relevant experience in health insurance pricing, actuarial analytics, portfolio analytics, underwriting analytics, or claims analytics.
• Bring strong experience in Corporate and/or SME health insurance pricing.
• UAE or GCC health insurance experience is highly desirable.
• Understand claims behaviour, medical inflation, utilization, provider costs, benefit design, and renewal pricing.

Technical & Analytical Skills

• Hold a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, or Engineering.
• Use advanced Excel, including complex formulas, Pivot Tables, Power Query, VBA, and modelling.
• Have strong SQL skills for data extraction, validation, and analysis.
• Use Python or R for statistical analysis and automation.
• Have experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
• Know pricing techniques including regression, GLM, credibility, trend analysis, and frequency/severity analysis.

Professional Skills

• An actuarial qualification in progress, such as SOA, IFoA, or equivalent, is preferred.
• Demonstrate commercial judgment, stakeholder management, communication, attention to detail, ownership, and problem-solving ability.
• Be comfortable in a hands-on, data-driven environment and translate technical insights into practical business actions.
