Role objective

Deliver instrumentation and control engineering solutions for ADNOC offshore projects within the Central Engineering Division.

Support detailed engineering and coordinate discipline interfaces to deliver safe, reliable, compliant systems for offshore facilities.

Engineering deliverables and design

  • Develop and review instrumentation and control deliverables for offshore facilities, including jackets, topsides, decks, modules, and support systems.
  • Prepare and review instrument indexes, I/O lists, data sheets, specifications, installation details, hook-up drawings, and material requisitions.
  • Develop and review control architecture, instrument location plans, cable schedules, termination and loop diagrams, and cause-and-effect charts.
  • Support specification and selection of field instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, analyzers, fire and gas devices, and associated systems.

Coordination and project execution

  • Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, electrical, structural, telecom, and safety disciplines for integrated, clash-free designs.
  • Review vendor documentation, technical bids, instrument data, and supplier drawings against project requirements.
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, design reviews, 3D model reviews, and stakeholder and client workshops.
  • Resolve technical queries, site clarifications, design changes, and construction issues; support procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Review junior staff deliverables, mentor engineers and designers, manage interfaces, and deliver work to project schedules.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of instrumentation and control engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Extensive detailed-design experience on offshore facilities, including topsides, jackets, modules, platforms, and brownfield modifications.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control, safety instrumented, fire and gas systems, and industrial communication networks.
  • Proficiency with tools such as SPI, AVEVA Instrumentation, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, and related design systems.
  • Understanding of ISA, IEC, API, NFPA, and relevant ADNOC engineering standards; experience with instrument sizing, shutdown systems, hazardous areas, and installation practices.
  • Familiarity with SIL assessment, functional safety, HAZOP, LOPA, and cause-and-effect development.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination, communication, technical reporting, and problem-solving skills; ability to work in EPC, EPCM, or PMC environments.
  • ADNOC or similar Middle East offshore project experience is highly preferred; central engineering or shared services experience is advantageous.

Project context

  • The engineering work supports ADNOC offshore projects and offshore execution requirements.

Benefits and development

  • The posting describes medical, life and personal accident insurance, end-of-service gratuity, an employee share plan, and a long-service award.
  • Wood offers professional development plans and access to an Energy Transition Academy and global industry experts.
