Role overview

Leads end-to-end technical implementation of integrated airport and airline solutions across applications, networks, servers, infrastructure, security, and cloud environments.

Works with Delivery, Product, Support, project teams, and customers to meet agreed technical, operational, and business requirements.

External posting title is Senior Implementation Engineer; the title upon hiring will be Senior Infrastructure Engineer under SITA’s career framework.

What you will do

  • Implement, configure, integrate, test, and support airport and airline technology solutions across applications, networks, servers, infrastructure, security, virtualization, and cloud.
  • Translate requirements into implementation plans and ensure integration with interacting systems, applications, and services.
  • Use airport-domain knowledge to advise customers on product use and recommend operational improvements.
  • Own implementation from requirements clarification through installation, configuration, testing, go-live, deployment, and support transition.
  • Coordinate go-live and resolve post-deployment defects, omissions, and operational issues until transition is complete.
  • Serve as the customer’s on-site technical and functional focal point when required, including representing delivery when a project manager is unavailable.
  • Track actions, dependencies, risks, and issues with internal teams and customers, escalating material delivery impacts.
  • Monitor performance and customer usage, identify improvements, maintain documentation and handover records, and share lessons learned.

Required qualifications and experience

  • At least five years implementing and supporting infrastructure platforms, application deployments, or integrated systems across multiple project lifecycles.
  • Mandatory experience implementing technology solutions in airport environments and understanding airport and airline workflows and system interdependencies.
  • Hands-on knowledge across networking, Microsoft infrastructure, servers, applications, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and security technologies, including exposure to Cisco and Palo Alto.
  • Able to troubleshoot complex technical and integration issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution across teams.
  • Understands implementation governance, risk and issue management, change control, documentation, testing, go-live, and transition to support.
  • Practical project-delivery awareness and ability to coordinate customer-facing activities when an on-site project manager is unavailable; this is not a dedicated project-management role.
  • Customer-focused communicator able to explain technical and functional matters and build effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.

Working approach and desirable credentials

  • The role calls for accountability, planning and prioritization, problem-solving across interconnected systems, continuous improvement, composure during go-live, and knowledge sharing.
  • A recognized project-management certification or practical exposure to formal project-management methods is a nice-to-have.
  • CCNA, Cisco, Microsoft, cloud, or security credentials are nice-to-haves.

Work arrangement and travel

  • Normal working hours; expected to be split approximately 50% between the SITA office and customer sites.
  • Travel of up to 25% may be required for projects outside Doha, primarily within the MEA region.
  • SITA states that employees may work from home up to two days per week depending on team needs and may work from another location for up to 30 days per year.

Benefits and development

  • SITA describes employee wellbeing support, professional-development resources, and locally appropriate benefits.
  • Learning resources mentioned include LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft’s Enterprise Skills Initiative, Airport Council International, Pluralsight, Harvard Business Publishing, and Stanford programs.
