Senior Full Stack Software Designer (Java & React)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full stack applications across front-end and back-end environments.
• Build responsive and accessible React interfaces; develop back-end services, business logic, APIs, and microservices.
• Build secure RESTful APIs and integrations; design and optimize relational databases and SQL queries.
• Deploy and support cloud-native applications; support CI/CD, releases, and deployment automation.
• Collaborate across product, architecture, QA, DevOps, and business teams to define technical solutions.
• Conduct peer reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting, and maintain technical documentation.
• Contribute to engineering standards, design patterns, team practices, and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including significant full stack development.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise; proven experience building scalable web applications using React.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js and Python; strong API and microservices development experience.
• Strong SQL, relational database, schema design, and query optimization knowledge.
• Cloud deployment experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform; version control experience such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps; understanding of application security and secure coding.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications

• TypeScript and modern front-end architecture patterns.
• Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployment models.
• Event-driven architecture, messaging systems, or asynchronous processing.
• API gateways, observability, logging, and monitoring tools.
• Enterprise-scale high-availability and security environments; Agile delivery experience.
• Banking, financial services, or other regulated-industry background; mentoring and technical leadership experience.

• Back end: Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, Python, REST APIs, and microservices.

Compensation

• CGI estimates a pay range of $95,000–$145,000; compensation depends on skills, market, experience, training, and other factors.
