The Senior Propulsion Engineer drives development, design, manufacturing, and testing of rocket propulsion subsystems.
The role combines technical leadership and project management, delivering propulsion programmes from concept through qualification.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test propulsion systems using thermodynamic, fluid dynamic, and structural principles through performance validation.
- Lead propulsion projects at systems-engineering level, managing interfaces, design reviews, verification, schedule, and budget.
- Define system requirements and maintain technical baselines and configuration control.
- Mentor entry-level engineers, review technical outputs, and support knowledge transfer.
- Support additive manufacturing, laser welding, milling, and heat treatment; work with manufacturing teams to resolve non-conformances.
- Advise on PLM implementation, process standardization, and data integrity across design, manufacturing, and testing.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, test reports, interface control documents, and other technical data packages.
- Coordinate technical teams and project management, communicate challenges, and flag risks across disciplines.
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- At least 10 years of experience in rocket propulsion development.
- Experience developing and producing Solid Rocket Motor data packs.
- Experience developing solid propellant rocket motors for missile applications.
