The Senior Engineer is a subject matter expert across platform areas, contributes to cross-team design, and owns project lifecycles.

The role includes technical leadership, mentoring, and helping shape how engineering teams adopt AI.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core-product features across the technology stack and own design, development, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Lead technical spikes and design work spanning teams or domains.
  • Review code, give constructive feedback, and mentor engineers.
  • Address difficult data manipulation and scaling problems.
  • Use AI tools for coding, reviewing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Develop guidance, validation loops, test generation, CI/CD, and quality gates for reliable AI-assisted engineering.
  • Advocate responsible AI use that respects quality, security, data handling, and engineering standards.

Required qualifications

  • Experience delivering and supporting resilient, scalable software in a multi-language, multi-technology stack.
  • Deep experience with Java or another statically typed language and familiarity with Spring Boot or Ruby on Rails.
  • Strong automated testing skills across unit, end-to-end, performance, and stress testing.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases at scale, including performance optimization.
  • Technical or team leadership experience, service-oriented architecture, and container-based deployment experience.
  • Genuine interest in applying AI to software engineering and ideas or experience for individual and team workflows.

Beneficial experience

  • Ruby, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React experience is beneficial.
  • CI/CD and cloud experience, preferably AWS, is beneficial.
  • Experience with AI or LLM workflow tooling, AI-assisted reviews or test generation, architectural migration, or observability is beneficial.

Workplace

  • Flexible working policy includes two days per week in the office.
  • The employer offers the opportunity to work abroad for up to six weeks per year.

Benefits

  • Benefits include private medical insurance, life assurance, flexible leave, enhanced family leave, and an employee assistance programme.
  • Additional benefits include cycle-to-work and technology schemes, volunteering days, learning opportunities, and employee awards.
