Job Description

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference.

IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.

With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute.

We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Job requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in energy management, power markets, or utility/regulatory roles within North American electricity markets (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, IESO)
  • Deep knowledge of interconnection processes and queues across relevant ISOs/RTOs and utility service territories
  • Proven experience negotiating and managing energy contracts, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), retail supply agreements, and interconnection agreements
  • Strong understanding of FERC, NERC, and state/provincial regulatory frameworks affecting large-load interconnection and data center siting
  • Established relationships with utility executives, transmission owners, and grid operators across multiple North American markets
  • Experience supporting infrastructure delivery for large-scale industrial or data center projects, including substations, transmission, and power generation
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Policy, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, JD, or MS) a plus
  • Willingness to travel across North America as needed; prior people leadership experience a plus

Job responsibilities

  • Own execution of IREN's power strategy across its North American AI Data Center portfolio, including interconnection, energy contracts, and regulatory approvals
  • Lead interconnection processes with ISOs/RTOs and utilities across multiple markets, from initial application through energization
  • Structure, negotiate, and manage energy contracts, including PPAs and interconnection agreements, in partnership with Legal and Finance
  • Track infrastructure delivery milestones for substations, transmission, and on-site generation across North American sites
  • Monitor and engage on energy policy and regulatory developments, including FERC, NERC, and state/provincial matters, affecting large-load interconnection
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with utility executives, ISOs/RTOs, and regulatory agencies across North America
  • Represent IREN in industry forums, utility stakeholder meetings, and regulatory proceedings across the region
  • Partner cross-functionally with Development, Operations, Finance, and Legal to align power delivery timelines with overall project schedules
  • Provide regular reporting on energy market conditions, contract performance, and interconnection status to leadership.
