Role overview

FinOps responsibilities

• Support financial management and control of significant AWS and Azure expenditure.
• Handle cost allocation, budgeting and forecasting, invoicing, reconciliation, recharge, and chargeback.
• Investigate financial discrepancies with finance, commercial, supplier, cloud platform, and business teams.
• Ensure expenditure is accurate, traceable, and attributed to the correct portfolios, programmes, and services.
• Use financial and cloud consumption data to improve management information, reporting, dashboards, and automated financial processes.
• Strengthen financial governance, transparency, and accountability and help stakeholders understand cloud consumption and costs.

• Design, build, modify, and manage data flows between complex operational, analytics, and BI systems.
• Work with Data Science colleagues and Product Owners to identify strategies that support business needs.
• Help set service technology and data architecture direction and mentor junior team members.

Person specification

• Strong finance experience is the primary requirement.
• Previous data engineering, cloud, or programming experience is not essential; relevant technical skills can be developed in the role.

Salary and benefits

• Listed salary is £49,850, with a possible non-pensionable allowance of up to £7,550 pending a Capability and Skills Assessment.
• Civil Service Pension employer contribution is listed as 28.97%.

Contract and working pattern

• Contract type is permanent; working pattern is full-time with compressed hours.

Location and working arrangements

• Advertised locations are Glasgow, Salford, and Sheffield.
