Operations Officer in the Home Office Immigration Detention Compliance Team.
The team monitors supplier performance at immigration removal centres and supports appropriate standards of care and service for detained residents.
The position is based at Gatwick (Horley) and includes a visible presence across operational sites.
Key duties
- Monitor contractual compliance and provide performance summaries, updates and feedback to the Home Office Compliance Manager.
- Oversee supplier compliance and site health, safety, security and adherence to legislation.
- Produce thematic reviews, dip-sample reports and assurance summaries; assess service against Immigration Detention Performance Standards and Framework requirements.
- Carry out Immigration Enforcement statutory duties, including authorizing temporary confinement or removal from association where necessary.
- Collect, process and audit complaints in line with policy.
- Collect and analyze operational data, prepare reports, contribute to performance reviews and inform decisions.
- Support planning and coordination of removals when required.
- Monitor use-of-force incidents and safeguard detained individuals by recognizing, escalating and supporting resolution of concerns.
- Participate in thematic reviews and audits and maintain relationships with onsite partners and stakeholders.
Role requirements
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work professionally in a complex operational setting.
Contract and working pattern
- Permanent, full-time position with annualised hours, compressed hours and shift working.
- Three positions are available.
Salary
- Salary is £34,749 to £35,270; annualised hours allowance is 22.82%, stated as an additional £7,929.72 per annum based on the minimum salary.

- The role involves maintaining a visible presence across immigration removal centre sites.
