Role overview

AI Platform & Data Engineering builds and operates the data platform supporting TS Imagine trading, risk, and AI capabilities.

The Senior Data Engineer owns production systems built with Snowflake, dbt, SQL, and Python, and contributes to TSIQ data and semantic foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate ingestion, validation, transformation, and distribution pipelines for vendor, internal, API, and file data.
  • Develop and maintain dbt models and Snowflake structures for trading, risk, analytics, and operational workflows.
  • Build production Python for ingestion, integrations, orchestration, and engineering tooling.
  • Improve monitoring, data quality, regression testing, and incident diagnosis.
  • Maintain data models and semantic views used by downstream applications and AI interfaces.
  • Investigate data issues, find root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
  • Contribute to technical design, code review, engineering standards, and delivery practices.
  • Help other teams build and operate pipelines effectively on the shared platform.

Required qualifications

  • Five or more years of relevant data engineering experience, including ownership of production data systems.
  • Strong SQL skills in data modeling, query design, performance, and debugging complex transformations.
  • Strong Python skills and experience developing maintainable, tested, multi-module applications.
  • Production experience with Snowflake and dbt.
  • Experience integrating APIs, databases, flat files, or event-driven sources.
  • Practical knowledge of data quality, monitoring, failure handling, and production support.
  • Experience with Git, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD.
  • Sound judgment balancing delivery speed, complexity, operating cost, and maintainability.
  • Applicants must be based in Montreal and able to communicate in French.

Useful, not required

  • Financial-market data experience, such as security master, instrument reference data, pricing, risk, or corporate actions.
  • Experience with semantic modeling or governed analytics layers.
  • Experience with asynchronous Python, API-heavy ingestion services, or modernization of legacy and stored-procedure-based pipelines.

Workplace

  • Hybrid work model with four days in the Montreal office; this is not a remote role.

Benefits

  • Unlimited vacation and three personal days; annual bonus and salary review.
  • Annual training budget of $1,500, RRSP matching with a 3% company contribution, and comprehensive health insurance.
  • Subsidized public transportation through Opus & Cie.
  • Work on production systems used by global capital-markets clients.
