Senior Curator

  • The Senior Curator is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the organization’s curatorial vision, with a focus on modern and contemporary art.
  • The role drives the conceptualization of exhibitions, collection development, and scholarly research, while fostering international collaborations that position the organization as a leading global cultural institution.
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead the conceptualization, planning, and delivery of major exhibitions, commissions, and long-term collection displays.
  • Develop and shape curatorial narratives that align with the organization’s vision, with a strong focus on global modern and contemporary art.
  • Conduct in-depth research to support exhibitions, publications, and acquisitions, ensuring scholarly excellence.
  • Identify and recommend acquisitions in line with the organization’s collection strategy, working closely with Collections and Acquisitions committees.
  • Build and maintain relationships with artists, collectors, lenders, galleries, and international institutions.
  • Lead international collaborations including loans, touring exhibitions, and joint curatorial projects.
  • Contribute to the development of publications, exhibition catalogues, and interpretive materials.
  • Collaborate with Education and Public Programs teams to translate curatorial content into engaging visitor experiences.
  • Mentor and guide junior curators and research staff, fostering a strong curatorial culture and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Represent the organization at international conferences, biennales, and art forums, enhancing its global reputation.
  • Work closely with Conservation, Collections, and Exhibitions teams to ensure best practices in display, handling, and care of artworks.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and KPI development within the curatorial department.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, ethical standards, and international best practices.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MA/PhD) in Art History, Curatorial Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of curatorial experience, preferably within major museums or international cultural institutions.
  • Strong expertise in modern and contemporary art, with a global perspective.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-profile exhibitions and publications.
  • Established international network within the art world (artists, institutions, collectors, galleries).
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
