Since our launch, we've built strong early traction in a market that traditional banks badly underserve, and we're scaling fast.
We're now hiring our first dedicated credit hire - the person who will build our credit function from the ground up and run it hands-on as we grow.
The Role
This is a builder's role, not a supervisor's role.
You'll write our credit and risk policies from scratch, own the underwriting of live deals yourself, and shape the credit engine that powers our decisions.
You'll be the person who both designs the framework and runs the numbers on real transactions — a player-coach who leads the credit function while staying deep in the work.
As we grow, this role grows into Head of Credit.
But on day one, you're rolling up your sleeves.
What You'Ll Own
- Credit & risk policy — draft and own Fincure's credit policy, risk appetite framework, underwriting standards, and provisioning / expected-loss approach.
- Deal underwriting (hands-on) — assess live forfaiting and AAR transactions using dual-obligor logic: underwriting both the seller/client and the debtor/buyer, and structuring recourse and security accordingly.
- Credit scoring & the credit engine — own and evolve our scorecard and limit-setting model as we move toward automated credit decisioning.
- Limits & concentration — set and monitor client, debtor, sector, and portfolio concentration limits, and flag exposures before they become problems.
- Risk-based pricing — ensure every deal clears our margin hurdle after cost of funds, opex, and expected loss.
- Portfolio monitoring — build early-warning signals, manage the health of the book, and coordinate collections and recovery.
- Regulatory alignment — keep underwriting and documentation aligned with the UAE regulatory framework (the new Civil Transactions Law / Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, CBUAE posture, EMCR registration discipline, and assignment-of-rights structuring).
- What Success Looks Like in Your First 6 Months
- A documented, board-ready credit and risk policy is live and in use.
- Every deal is underwritten against a consistent, defensible framework — decisions are explainable, not gut-feel.
- The credit engine is running, calibrated, and trusted, with a clear roadmap to automation.
- Portfolio quality is monitored proactively, with concentration and early-warning dashboards in place.
What We'Re Looking For
- 3+ years in credit / risk, ideally in trade finance, receivables or supply-chain finance, factoring, invoice discounting, or SME lending.
- A genuinely hands-on underwriter — someone comfortable being the one who writes the policy and crunches the deal, not delegating it.
- Strong financial statement, cash-flow, and debtor/buyer risk analysis skills, and a solid grasp of recourse and security structures.
- Excel modeling proficiency (our credit engine is Excel-based today).
- Familiarity with the UAE market — AECB, KYC/AML, and local SME credit dynamics.
- High ownership and comfort operating in an early-stage, fast-moving environment where you build rather than inherit.
Bonus Points
- Direct forfaiting / non-recourse receivables experience.
- Working knowledge of the new UAE Civil Transactions Law and its impact on assignment and security.
- Exposure to building or specifying automated credit decisioning.
- A bank or NBFI trade-finance background.
