About the role

The Senior Business Intelligence Specialist leads development of high-impact analytical solutions and cohesive data experiences.

The role translates complex data challenges into scalable solutions and provides senior BI development and domain expertise.

The specialist partners with BI Managers, the Central BI Team, Data Engineering and business stakeholders, and helps guide technical direction and mentor junior team members.

Analytics strategy and delivery

  • Shape analytics vision, strategy and roadmap with BI Managers; independently lead workstreams and influence priorities.
  • Translate ambiguous business questions into structured, scalable analytics solutions.
  • Prototype solutions, gather early feedback and iterate to reduce time to insight while modeling agile delivery.

Solution design and development

  • Partner with Data Engineering on end-to-end BI solutions spanning data ingestion, modeling and visualization.
  • Build performant, maintainable dashboards and reports using tools such as DOMO, Tableau or Looker.
  • Own and optimize domain data models and conduct peer reviews for quality and maintainability.

Standardization and governance

  • Lead standardization initiatives and scale analytics solutions into enterprise-wide capabilities.
  • Create reusable components, templates and frameworks for a shared analytics library and guide adoption.
  • Champion consistent KPI definitions and reporting standards.
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues, lead root cause analyses and own remediation plans.
  • Maintain data lineage, documentation and governance practices for owned solutions.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Translate data insights into clear, actionable narratives for business stakeholders.
  • Lead demos, training and enablement workshops and develop self-service programs to increase adoption.
  • Gather stakeholder feedback and turn it into prioritized roadmap enhancements.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or a closely related role.
  • Demonstrated delivery of enterprise-scale analytics solutions that influenced strategic decisions and measurable outcomes.

Technical qualifications

  • Expert-level proficiency in one or more major BI platforms, such as DOMO, Tableau or Looker.
  • Expert SQL skills, including complex queries, window functions, CTEs and query optimization.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery or Databricks.
  • Expertise in data modeling concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.
