Senior Backend Software Engineer - Global Commercial Services Technology

Role overview

Engineering responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable Golang backend services and APIs in AWS.
• Build microservices using domain-driven design and patterns such as hexagonal architecture.
• Develop resilient, observable distributed systems and event-driven streaming solutions with Kafka and messaging technologies.
• Integrate workflow orchestration and durable execution frameworks such as Camunda and Temporal.
• Design and manage relational, graph, document, search, and OLAP data systems.
• Build and operate cloud-native services using Lambda, ECS, SQS, API Gateway, RDS, and S3.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing using tools such as Datadog.
• Evaluate SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions; participate in architecture reviews, RFCs, and proofs of concept.
• Set engineering standards, plan and estimate work, mitigate risks, resolve blockers, and communicate progress to stakeholders.

Collaboration and leadership

• Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to define service contracts and platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and foster collaboration across distributed engineering teams.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience building backend services using Golang and designing and deploying systems in AWS.
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, microservices, domain-driven design, and modern architectural patterns.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data storage, including distributed Postgres-compatible databases such as CockroachDB.
• Experience with workflow orchestration such as Camunda or Temporal, and observability and performance tools such as Datadog.
• Experience collaborating across functions and mentoring engineers; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience integrating AI/ML models into backend systems is a plus.
