Senior Backend Engineer .NET

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance backend services, APIs, and middleware.
• Architect and build distributed systems ensuring horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
• Design integration layers for third-party systems, hardware and external APIs
• Implement event-driven architectures for real-time alarm correlation, video analytics events, and system telemetry.
• Deploy, manage, and optimize containerized workloads on Kubernetes (on-premises and cloud).
• Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and deployment strategies.
• Lead code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior engineers.
• Identify and resolve backend bottlenecks through profiling, load testing, and performance optimization.
• Own technical documentation including ADRs, API specifications, and runbooks.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

Work Experience

• 8+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on development in .NET Core/.NET (C#).
• Proven track record designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with Kubernetes in production environments.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong proficiency in .NET 8+ and C#: ASP.NET Core, minimal APIs, gRPC, high performance async patterns.
• Working knowledge of modern Node.js/Bun ecosystem — TypeScript, NestJS/Express/Hono, Prisma/Drizzle.
• Kubernetes: deployments, services, ingress, ConfigMaps/Secrets, Helm charts.
• Distributed systems: CAP theorem, eventual consistency, circuit breakers, saga patterns.
• Message brokers: Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, Azure Service Bus.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis.
• AWS: ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch.
• Azure: AKS, Container Apps, App Service, Service Bus, Blob Storage, Application Insights.
• API design: REST, gRPC, OpenAPI/Swagger, API versioning.
• Architectural patterns: Clean Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, DDD.
• Testing: xUnit/NUnit, Vitest/Jest, integration tests, test containers.
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, structured logging, distributed tracing.

Preferred Experience

• Real-time communication with SignalR, WebSockets, server-sent events.
• Video streaming, media servers, or high-throughput IoT ingestion.
• GitOps and IaC — ArgoCD/Flux, Terraform, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Service mesh and platform security, Vault, container scanning.
• Hardware integration via SDKs, proprietary protocols, device communication.
• Working knowledge or understanding of Python and its ecosystem.

Soft Skills

• Self-driven with ability to own features end-to-end with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills in complex distributed environments.
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong documentation habits, you write it down so others can run with it.
