Team

Agent Factory forms senior cross-functional AI teams to build production-grade intelligent agents embedded in Workday’s platform.

Teams own problems end to end and work across AI, platform architecture and human workflows.

Role

Design, implement and integrate intelligent agents for enterprise products, connecting AI capabilities to product experiences.

Build production-ready systems that operate safely and reliably at global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design and orchestrate agentic workflows; integrate foundational models into functional software.
  • Implement responsible AI safeguards for data privacy, predictability, explainability and security around sensitive HR and financial data.
  • Solve latency, cost and reliability constraints; lead engineering workstreams, own development delivery and mentor engineers.
  • Prototype, benchmark and evaluate AI outputs against product requirements.

Basic qualifications

  • At least 8 years in software engineering, backend architecture, distributed systems and API design, plus 1 year in production LLM/agentic systems; or 5 years in ML engineering/AI application development, including 2 years shipping LLM-backed products.
  • At least 2 years integrating LLMs or foundation models and AI APIs into enterprise products; at least 1 year designing AI orchestration such as multi-agent systems, routing layers or advanced RAG.
  • At least 4 years optimizing application performance, including 1 year addressing LLM constraints such as tokens, cost and context windows.
  • At least 4 years deploying scalable systems on cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or an equivalent technical field; master’s degree preferred.

Additional qualifications

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI governance, guardrails, security and evaluation for agents accessing sensitive data.
  • Proven technical leadership, development-lifecycle ownership and mentorship of junior-to-mid-level engineers.
  • Able to architect reusable, robust AI application layers with predictable behavior, error handling and seamless user experience.
  • Skilled in rapid prototyping, model benchmarking and automated evaluation of retrieval quality and agent behavior.
  • Autonomous, product-focused builder who can turn open-ended goals into scalable solutions with practical user and business value.

Compensation

  • Annual base pay range for Canada locations is CAD 169,000–253,000; role may also be eligible for bonus or commission and annual stock grants.

Flexible work

  • Flexible arrangement includes in-person time and remote work; teams spend at least half of each quarter in the office or with customers, prospects or partners in the field, depending on role.
  • Remote home-office employees may also join office gatherings.
