Senior Accountant

Role purpose

P&L, budgeting, and reporting

• Record and report brand revenue, COGS, payroll, and overheads; prepare monthly P&L and variance analysis.
• Manage close activities, journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and allocations across outlets, brands, and cost centres.
• Review balance-sheet reconciliations for bank, cards, aggregators, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany, payables, and receivables.
• Review food and beverage costs and stock counts; investigate COGS, wastage, and inventory variances.
• Support budgets and forecasts; monitor actual spending, flag overruns, and recommend corrective action.
• Prepare management reports, KPI dashboards, profitability and payback analysis, and cost-saving reviews; work with managers to improve margins.

Controls, compliance, and mentorship

• Implement and monitor financial controls, ensure compliance with payment, petty cash, expense, and reporting policies, and maintain Delegation of Authority approvals.
• Prepare and review UAE VAT returns and schedules and support corporate tax compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare schedules and documentation, and follow up findings to closure.
• Review supplier invoices, payment runs, and vendor-master changes to prevent duplicate, unauthorized, or fraudulent payments.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants and accounts assistants; maintain procedures and improve finance processes and ERP usage.

Qualifications and experience

• Chartered Accountant qualification is mandatory; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a senior accountant or equivalent role.
• Strong F&B or hospitality background; multi-outlet or multi-brand restaurant group experience in the UAE or GCC is ideal.
• Experience with close, GL integrity, brand or outlet P&L, and variance analysis.
• Practical UAE VAT and corporate tax experience, sound IFRS understanding, and audit coordination experience.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling; Power BI or similar reporting tools are an advantage.
• Advanced Oracle Micros POS and ERP proficiency, with examples including NetSuite, SAP, Odoo, and Microsoft Dynamics.
