Full Job Posting
This is a permanent part-time position working 37.5 hours biweekly.
Our goal is to support all learners in developing the essential skills, knowledge and personal qualities that they need to thrive in life.
Are you passionate about shaping the future of education in the Yukon? The Department of Education provides high-quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all Yukoners. We are committed to excellence, inclusivity, and innovation in every aspect of our work.
Our department plays a crucial role in delivering a wide range of services and supports that span from early learning to adult education and encompass K-12 schooling. We are proud of our diverse team of professionals who collaborate to develop and implement policies, programs and initiatives that promote student success and enhance educational outcomes across the territory.
About the Individual Learning Centre…
The Individual Learning Centre (ILC) is an alternative learning community serving approximately 140-180 students aged 16–21 from diverse backgrounds, with varying abilities, needs, and learning styles. The ILC’s goal is to re-engage and empower students as they work toward high school graduation in a safe, nurturing, respectful, and inclusive environment. The ILC provides a flexible, self-paced learning model rather than a traditional classroom structure. Students can attend on a drop-in basis, access individualized support from teachers, and work around employment, family responsibilities, and other personal commitments. The school offers core courses, electives, cultural and experiential learning opportunities, and connections to other educational programs. This flexible structure requires students to develop independence, responsibility, and self-regulation. The culture of the ILC is strongly grounded in relationships, belonging, safety, respect, empathy, cooperation, flexibility, and empowerment. Staff work collaboratively to provide responsive and culturally relevant programming while also case-managing students who may require additional support.
