About the Role
The Risk Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's enterprise and operational risk management framework.
The role will support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of risks across the business while ensuring effective governance, reporting, and control mechanisms.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Finance teams to strengthen risk management practices and support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
- Establish and maintain risk registers, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report on operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic risks.
- Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and risk dashboards.
- Conduct business unit risk assessments and control reviews.
- Track operational loss events and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Assess risks associated with new clients, products, services, and business initiatives.
- Support the design and enhancement of internal controls and risk mitigation measures.
- Prepare risk reports and presentations for management and governance committees.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Internal Audit, and Finance teams on risk-related matters.
- Support process improvement, workflow optimisation, and automation initiatives from a risk management perspective.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of risk management experience within the UAE.
- Experience within insurance, insurance brokerage, banking, exchange houses, or other regulated financial services environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise and operational risk management principles.
- Experience developing and maintaining risk registers, KRIs, dashboards, and risk reporting frameworks.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, control reviews, and risk mitigation planning.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working closely with Internal Audit and Compliance functions.
- Ability to assess and communicate risk from both operational and financial perspectives.
Preferred Experience
- Insurance brokerage or insurance operations environment.
- Knowledge of premium collection processes, commission structures, reconciliation controls, and associated operational risks.
- Experience with process improvement, workflow optimisation, and automation initiatives.
- Experience with reporting tools, dashboards, and system implementation projects.
- Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CRMA, IRM, or equivalent will be considered an advantage.
