Role overview
Improve product availability, stock productivity and retail profitability through disciplined assortment, inventory and pricing analysis. Establish practical merchandising processes and reporting for Melodica’s branch network, working closely with buying, retail, ecommerce and warehouse teams.
Key responsibilities
- Establish merchandising reports, planning routines and controls to give clear visibility of sales, stock and product performance.
- Analyse sales, margin, sell-through, stock cover, ageing and out-of-stock trends by product, category and branch.
- Recommend product assortments and stock allocations that reflect branch demand, customer needs and available space.
- Develop demand forecasts and replenishment recommendations with purchasing and warehouse teams; monitor stock movements and imbalances.
- Recommend inter-branch transfers and actions for slow-moving or excess stock while protecting availability of core products.
- Review pricing, competitor positioning and promotional performance; recommend changes within agreed commercial approval processes.
- Coordinate launch, seasonal and promotional stock plans with retail, ecommerce and Marketing colleagues.
- Maintain accurate planning data and report actionable insights, highlighting stock risks and opportunities to improve working capital and margin.
Experience and qualifications
- Retail merchandising or merchandise planning experience involving assortment, stock and pricing decisions.
- Experience establishing merchandising routines or improving a function with limited existing processes.
- Strong Excel and numerical analysis skills; comfortable working with retail inventory and sales systems.
- Relevant specialist retail experience, ideally instruments, electronics or other durable goods with varied product ranges.
