Restaurant Accountant

About This Role

The Restaurant Accountant will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, monitoring financial transactions, preparing reports, and supporting the restaurant’s financial health. The ideal candidate should have experience in restaurant or hospitality accounting and a strong understanding of financial controls, cost management, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of daily sales, expenses, purchases, and payments.
• Prepare and update financial statements, profit and loss reports, and cash flow reports.
• Reconcile daily sales with POS reports and bank deposits.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Handle payroll processing and staff salary records.
• Track inventory costs, food costs, and operational expenses.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Prepare VAT-related documentation and ensure compliance with UAE regulations.
• Manage petty cash, invoices, and supplier payments.
• Coordinate with management on financial planning and reporting.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documents.
• Ensure all accounting records are organized and up to date.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with restaurant POS systems and accounting software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
• Knowledge of VAT filing and UAE financial regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience in the UAE or GCC.
• Experience in food cost analysis and inventory accounting.
• Familiarity with restaurant operations and supplier management.
• CPA, CMA, or similar accounting certification is an advantage.
