Reservation Duties
- Sell hotel products and services using upselling and suggestive-selling techniques; maintain product and service knowledge.
- Plan and execute actions to increase reservation sales and related business.
- Process phone and email reservations, waitlists, amendments, extensions, early departures, and no-show records.
- Monitor reservation levels and occupancy, maintain knowledge of rates and promotions, and prepare reports.
- Respond promptly to room enquiries and client requests; inform the Revenue Head of complaints or significant matters.
Business and General Duties
- Record group and convention billing arrangements; coordinate credit approval requests with Operations or Finance Managers.
- Prepare quotes and communications, input database information, and maintain filing.
- Work toward budget targets and develop initiatives to increase departmental revenue.
- Communicate across departments, attend required meetings and training, and identify opportunities to improve service and products.
- Follow hotel and occupational health and safety policies, report safety concerns, and maintain a professional, organized work environment.
- Complete assigned projects on time and maintain accurate, high-standard reports, presentations, and administrative work.
Education and Experience
- Higher School Certificate / Year 12 or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a hotel reservations sales environment.
Technical Skills and Attributes
- Competence with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and software packages; knowledge of hotel PMS, specifically Opera.
- Competent oral and written communication and strong organization and work coordination.
- A can-do attitude, high energy, professional grooming, ability to work under pressure, and adaptability to change.
