Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Position Details

Compensation

• The wage range is $41.15-$58.98 per hour, with a non-negotiable start rate set by the collective agreement.

Schedule

• The position is permanent part-time at 15 hours per week.
• Shifts rotate across days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Duties

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent perioperative nursing care using nursing science, theory, skill, and critical decision-making.
• Practice according to the UHN Professional Practice Model, nursing mission and vision, professional standards, ethical requirements, and UHN policies.
• Participate in continuing education and lifelong professional learning.
• Use reflective practice to evaluate nursing knowledge and improve nursing and patient care quality.
• Perform cross-functional and other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Completion of a recognized Operating Room or Perioperative course is required.
• Current operating room experience of 2-4 years is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
• Initiative, good judgment, multitasking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
• A B.Sc.N. is preferred.

Care Environment

• The nurse works within a multidisciplinary team and documents perioperative nursing care using computer-based resources in the operating room.
• The role supports patient- and family-centered care and continuity of care across a wide range of surgical services.
