Evaluate project costs and whether the organization should undertake projects.
Use knowledge of organizational competitive advantages to support the bidding process.
Estimating and tender work
- Resolve cost discrepancies through information gathering and analysis; obtain accurate material and systems quotations.
- Prepare and verify Bills of Quantities from tender drawings and documents, and perform quantity take-offs where needed.
- Review project scope, drawings and specifications, and develop RFIs as needed.
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals; issue invitations to bid to selected subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepare bid forms, bid proposals and clarifications; assist with project packaging, arrangement and submission.
- Close out and submit commercial tenders, maintaining awareness of the tender process through submission and PTCs.
- Perform civil rate analysis for senior review and develop competitive offers through package splitting and follow-up.
CANDY and team accountabilities
- Organize project files, upload data and establish required files in CANDY; produce professional outputs and close commercial project work.
- Lead the estimation team and distribute tasks; monitor junior staff work and assist them.
- Complete assigned tasks within deadlines and report to the manager or senior.
- Develop and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships.
Qualifications and experience
- More than 10 years of experience.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE) or a relevant qualification.
- Professional working ability using CANDY from scratch through project submission.
- Ability to prepare Bills of Quantities, split work into packages, pursue competitive offers and finalize full project commercial work.
Software and technical skills
- Specialized training or skills listed: CANDY (CCS), Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
- AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and Revit Architecture (3D modeling) are also listed.
