Quantity Surveyor – Building

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and BOQs; verify completed quantities against approved project documents.
• Evaluate interim payment applications and monthly progress valuations.
• Assess variations, change orders, claims, and related cost implications.
• Monitor costs, budgets, cash flow, and expenditure against approved estimates.
• Review rate analyses, cost estimates, and additional-work proposals; assist with FIDIC contract administration.
• Maintain commercial records and support final accounts and project cost reports.
• Coordinate commercial matters with the Client, Contractor, Resident Engineer, and project teams.
• Identify cost overruns and commercial risks, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with project and UAE requirements.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of quantity-surveying experience in building construction.
• Engineering consultancy or project supervision consultant experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost control, variations, claims, and payment certification.
• Good understanding of FIDIC contracts and construction contract administration.
• Building development experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or other projects is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and relevant quantity-surveying software.
• Strong analytical, communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
