Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site QS Engineer role based in the UAE.
The QS Engineer will be responsible for preparing and reviewing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for construction projects.
This role will monitor project costs, track variations, and support contract administration to ensure projects remain within budget and comply with contractual terms.
The QS Engineer will coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide timely cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial insights.
Daily tasks include analysing drawings and specifications, conducting site measurements, evaluating subcontractor quotations, and assisting with claims, valuations, and final account settlements.
The role also supports continuous improvement in cost control processes and adherence to company standards and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in quantity surveying, including cost estimation, bills of quantities preparation, and measurement of works.
- Experience in contract administration, including tendering, evaluation of variations, claims management, and final account settlement.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Competence in using relevant QS and project management software (e.g., MS Excel, MS Project, specialised QS/estimating tools).
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing within building and infrastructure projects.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional project teams.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on cost control and value engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., RICS or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Previous experience as a QS Engineer or Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector in the UAE or GCC region is highly preferred.
