Purchase Officer

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services as per project requirements
• Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and negotiate the best commercial terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and warranties
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procurement policies
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, planning teams, and the warehouse to ensure timely material delivery
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers and identify new vendors to improve procurement efficiency
• Monitor market trends, material prices, and supplier performance to achieve cost savings
• Ensure all purchased materials comply with project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements
• Track purchase orders and expedite deliveries to avoid project delays
• Resolve supplier-related issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies
• Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, and documentation for audit purposes
• Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations
• Support tendering and estimation teams by obtaining competitive quotations during bid preparation
• Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and purchasing forecasts for management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Professional procurement certifications are an added advantage

Experience

• 7-10 years of procurement experience in civil construction or contracting companies
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and subcontract procurement
• Experience working in the GCC/UAE construction industry is preferred

Required Skills

• Strong negotiation and commercial acumen
• Excellent knowledge of procurement processes and contract management
• Familiarity with construction materials, technical specifications, and supplier networks
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Xpedion) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadline
