The engineer is expected to handle customer enquiries and tenders, technical reviews, BOQ/BOM preparation, panel design, clarifications, and client or consultant meetings.
Estimation, design, and coordination
- Review customer enquiries, tender documents, technical specifications, and electrical drawings; prepare technical and commercial quotations for LV switchgear panels.
- Prepare panel layouts, general arrangement drawings, schematic drawings, detailed engineering drawings, material and technical submittals, and responses to consultant comments.
- Prepare BOQs, review BOMs, and support material planning and procurement.
- Review client and consultant requirements for compliance with applicable IEC/IS standards; handle clarifications and attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
- Coordinate with sales, procurement, production, quality control, and project teams; identify cost-effective alternatives without compromising technical requirements.
- Coordinate factory acceptance tests and consultant inspections, and maintain estimation records, costing databases, and project documentation.
- Support revenue targets, cost control, value engineering, and project execution; monitor progress, contractual requirements, scope variations, and delivery schedules.
- Guide team members, ensure timely departmental activities, improve work processes, and maintain documentation as per ISO requirements.
Required experience and skills
- Five to seven years of UAE experience in LV switchgear estimation, design, and project execution.
- Experience in LV switchgear manufacturing is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of LV panel design, power and control components, and electrical systems.
- Experience in tendering, costing, BOQ/BOM preparation, and technical and commercial quotations.
- Ability to independently prepare panel drawings using AutoCAD.
- Good knowledge of IEC/IS standards and LV switchgear requirements.
- Experience with factory acceptance testing, technical inspections, and coordination with consultants and contractors.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Leadership and team management experience is preferred.
- A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
