Product Engineering Lead, Keet (100% Remote, Worldwide)

Role overview

Engineering responsibilities

• Run API and frontend teams day to day, unblock work, review contributions, and keep delivery moving.
• Set engineering standards for performance, reliability, and clean APIs.
• Own technical design of features and the API surface between Keet's core and its app.
• Coordinate with deep technology teams on reviews and designs affecting the engine.

Product and leadership responsibilities

• Partner with product managers to turn vision and roadmap into scoped, buildable work; challenge unrealistic scope and suggest alternatives.
• Bring engineering input to product decisions, including opportunities offered by P2P systems.
• Use AI tools and rapid prototypes to validate ideas before committing to them.
• Clarify team goals, mentor team leads, improve team operating practices and collaboration, and lead by example.

Qualifications

• Experience managing engineers or engineering leads shipping consumer products, ideally chat, calling, or social apps.
• Strong product sense and ability to shape product decisions with product managers.
• Intuition for distributed and local-first systems; offline-first and eventual consistency should feel natural. P2P protocol expertise is not required.
• Deep JavaScript and React skills.
• Initiative, curiosity, resilience, and ability to give and receive direct critique.
• Experience with local-first apps, CRDTs or sync engines, offline-capable mobile or desktop apps, or open source is a bonus.
