Role overview

What you’ll be doing

• Translate R&D and Innovation business processes, scientific workflows, data needs, and pain points into product and technical requirements.
• Lead delivery from discovery and architecture through configuration or development, integration, testing, release, support, and improvement.
• Build scalable, reusable, secure, maintainable connections between R&D applications, enterprise platforms, data, and analytics.
• Prioritize backlogs, define acceptance criteria, manage dependencies, and deliver measurable outcomes with product owners and business partners.
• Align solutions with organizational standards alongside architecture, data, security, privacy, infrastructure, and AI teams.
• Assess technology and responsible AI opportunities to improve workflows, knowledge reuse, experimentation, and decision support.
• Set standards for documentation, testing, monitoring, performance, reliability, and supportability.
• Support adoption with documentation, demonstrations, training, release communications, and handover.
• Monitor performance and feedback after launch, diagnose issues, and coordinate internal teams, vendors, and partners.

What you’ll need to be successful

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience delivering enterprise digital products, data solutions, or technical platforms through the full lifecycle.
• Strong experience translating business and technical needs into designs, user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans.
• Hands-on knowledge of data engineering, integration, APIs, data modelling, software practices, and cloud architectures.
• R&D, product development, scientific, laboratory, formulation, or innovation process experience in consumer packaged goods is strongly preferred.
• Databricks and SQL knowledge are preferred; JavaScript experience is preferred.
• AI, machine learning, generative AI, or AI-enabled product delivery experience is an asset.
• Ability to manage technical priorities, dependencies, risks, testing, releases, and vendor contributions in agile delivery.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Workplace

• The role is based in Toronto and is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment, subject to local arrangements.
• McCain says most office-based roles follow a hybrid model with the option to work remotely two days a week; exceptions may apply.

Compensation

• Target compensation is CAD 85,500 to CAD 114,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility.
• Hiring compensation depends on experience, skill set, education, training, and organizational needs.
