About the role

The role owns a portfolio of analytical models for trading customers across power, gas, and oil markets.

The portfolio is being developed into versioned, documented, commercially packaged products usable by machines and analysts.

The director sets portfolio strategy and investment priorities and leads product leads; they do not build models or manage the implementing engineers.

Portfolio and product ownership

  • Decide which models to build, rebuild, retire, or acquire across power, gas, and oil, and own the investment case and sequencing.
  • Turn research outputs and analytical assets into products with versioning, documented methodology, reproducible outputs, and defined release cycles.
  • Hire, develop, set objectives for, and lead product leads with market-specific commodity expertise.
  • Set methodology standards for validation, change control, backtesting, and documentation.
  • Define commercial packaging and distribution through applications, APIs, data platforms, and internal analyst workflows; partner with commercial teams on pricing.
  • Specify requirements for central engineering and modelling teams, review implementations, and maintain the quality bar without managing developers.

What the role requires

  • Degree in a mathematical, engineering, or scientific discipline and practical experience with linear programming, econometric, or machine-learning modelling.
  • Ten or more years in product, including ownership of a multi-product portfolio and investment tradeoffs.
  • Experience leading product managers, including senior product managers.
  • Track record productizing analytical or research assets into repeatable, documented, commercially viable offerings.
  • Experience with machine-consumable delivery through APIs, streaming, data platforms, and workflow integration.
  • Commodity or energy-market context is preferred but is not a prerequisite.
  • Ability to operate effectively across development, data engineering, and market-expertise teams that are not directly managed.

Product and modelling capabilities

  • Quantitative understanding sufficient to discuss, validate, and challenge modelling methodology.
  • Portfolio strategy, investment prioritization, product leadership, methodology governance, and commercial product packaging.

Compensation

  • Salary is listed as USD 160,000–190,000 per year.
