Role overview
Own day-to-day development of standardized low-rise products, including housing, multiplexes, ADUs, cabins, and selected institutional units.
Turn concepts into coordinated, costed, permit-ready products prepared for panel-plant production and Sales.
The role starts hands-on and may grow into leading a dedicated PrimeSpaces product team as volume builds.
Product development and delivery
- Own the product roadmap, development schedule, stage gates, and launch readiness.
- Coordinate external architects, technologists, engineers, and code consultants on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Work with PrimePanel to create repeatable panelized products and consistent manufacturing handoffs.
- Coordinate standard building-envelope interfaces with R&D and Building Systems Design.
- Define product configurations and rules for standard, optional, and custom features.
- Manage costing, BOMs, supplier pricing, alternates, target margins, and value engineering.
- Maintain product books with drawings, specifications, options, BOMs, lead times, installation scope, exclusions, and customer decision points.
- Coordinate suppliers and Marketing and Sales to make products clear, priceable, and sellable.
- Use feedback from Sales, estimating, manufacturing, and field installation to revise products.
- Plan design and estimating capacity and recommend in-house capabilities and future team needs.
Experience and technical qualifications
- At least 7 years in residential product development, production homebuilding, prefab, modular or panelized construction, or commercial and institutional design and preconstruction.
- Experience developing repeatable house plans or models, option programs, standard details, or product libraries.
- Understand wood framing, panelization, building envelopes, and the effects of design decisions on factory production.
- Comfort with BOMs, target cost, margin, value engineering, supplier pricing, and alternates.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, including Part 9, and permit processes; able to review Revit, CAD, and BIM outputs.
- Part 3 Building Code knowledge or accessibility knowledge is an asset.
Working approach
- Think in repeatable product platforms rather than one-off designs.
- Remove blockers, hold consultants and teams to shared standards, and address scope, cost, or quality issues.
- Make disciplined customization decisions and build structure while remaining hands-on.
Compensation
- Salary is $100,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience.
- Performance incentive of up to 25% of base is tied to product launches, cost and margin targets, and manufacturing readiness.
Workplace
- Primarily office-based in Mississauga, with up to one remote day per week possible after onboarding.
Benefits and opportunity
- Comprehensive group benefits package.
- Opportunity to build a new product platform and team with access to an in-house prefab panel plant, R&D team, and envelope specialists.
- Work spans housing, hospitality, and institutional products.
