Product Design Lead

Role overview

Leadership and stakeholder work

• Lead, coach, and develop around three product designers to become more autonomous and outcome-driven.
• Represent design with senior business, technology, and government stakeholders, including people without design backgrounds.
• Bring clarity to complex requirements and competing views and guide discussions toward decisions.
• Challenge assumptions, facilitate workshops, and negotiate priorities and direction.
• Make decisions and maintain momentum without waiting for perfect information.

Design practice and delivery

• Map user journeys, flows, processes, and system interactions to understand services end to end.
• Work with the design technologist and established design system to prototype and test ideas rapidly using AI.
• Guide design system use, governance, and evolution across products.
• Plan usability testing and turn findings into actionable improvements.
• Create compelling stories that stakeholders can understand and support.
• Hold the team to high standards of design quality, consistency, and clarity.

Experience and qualifications

• Requires 8+ years of product or UX design experience and strong stakeholder leadership in complex organizations.
• Requires proven experience leading designers and influencing senior non-design stakeholders.
• Requires hands-on experience with design systems, including use, governance, and scaling.
• Requires strong grounding in user research, usability testing, journey thinking, and systems thinking.
• Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and storytelling skills are required.
• Fluent Arabic and English are essential.
• Government or similarly complex organization experience is highly valuable.
• Interest in AI-driven ways of working is sought.

Team approach

• The team is fast-moving and led by a technically minded Head of Design.
• Designers are evaluated on understanding problems, making decisions, connecting systems, testing assumptions, leading people, and delivering outcomes.
• Figma or hands-on visual design experience is not required.
