Role Overview
Own product design as a function, including standards, systems, processes and people.
Work hands-on in a small team while also directing design work.
Design for a regulated financial product used by people who are often investing for the first time.
Design Quality and Systems
- Set the quality bar and review every customer-facing screen before it ships.
- Build and maintain one design system across the mobile app, web product and internal tools.
- Maintain the design system in Figma and align it with what engineers implement.
- Reduce inconsistent or duplicated ways of solving the same design problem.
Discovery and Prototyping
- Create clickable prototypes quickly before detailed specifications are produced.
- Use AI design and prototyping tools alongside Figma.
- Test prototypes with customers and the team, using evidence to resolve design debates.
- Simplify the product by removing redundant flows, inconsistent components and unnecessary screens.
Regulated Product Experience
- Design clear, calm, trustworthy and simple experiences for complex underlying rules.
- Design onboarding, KYC, disclosures, risk warnings and consent flows.
Process and People
- Decide how design work is requested, prioritized and delivered across the product function.
- Set goals, provide feedback, support growth and conduct regular one-to-ones.
- Hire and shape the design team as it grows.
Requirements
- Hands-on product design experience with the ability to design as well as direct design work.
- Ability to create working, clickable prototypes quickly using AI design and prototyping tools alongside Figma.
- Ability to work directly with engineers on implemented product experiences rather than only handing over static screens.
- Experience defining and maintaining a design system across mobile, web and internal tools.
- Ability to design clear and trustworthy experiences for a regulated financial product.
- Ability to test prototypes with customers and teams and use evidence to resolve design decisions.
- Ability to lead goals, feedback, growth and one-to-ones and help hire and shape a growing design team.
