Procurement Engineer

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities for materials, equipment, subcontract packages and engineering-related services.
• Review technical specifications, material requisitions, drawings and project requirements prior to sourcing.
• Prepare and issue RFQs, tender documents and enquiry packages to approved vendors and subcontractors.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations from both technical and commercial perspectives.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure technical compliance of vendor proposals.
• Prepare bid tabulations, commercial comparisons and procurement recommendations.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms and contractual conditions with suppliers.
• Support the preparation and placement of purchase orders, subcontracts and service agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery status, expediting requirements and documentation submission.
• Liaise with project management, construction, engineering, QA/QC, logistics and finance teams.
• Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets, schedules and contractual requirements.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor correspondence, purchase order files and reporting trackers.
• Support cost saving initiatives, value engineering and alternative sourcing strategies where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures, client requirements and ethical sourcing standards.
• Assist with vendor prequalification, supplier performance reviews and approved vendor list management.
• Support resolution of procurement-related technical, commercial or delivery issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or a related technical field.
• Additional qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Contracts Management or Project Management would be advantageous.

Required Experience

• 7-10+ years of hands-on procurement, buying, sourcing or tendering experience.
• Strong experience within oil & gas, EPC, engineering, construction or major industrial project environments.
• Experience procuring technical materials, engineered equipment, subcontract packages or project services.
• Good understanding of engineering documentation, technical specifications and project procurement workflows.
• Experience working closely with engineering and construction teams.
• Strong knowledge of RFQ preparation, bid evaluation, vendor negotiation and purchase order management.
