Principal Wet Utilities Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and design documentation for water, wastewater, irrigation, and stormwater projects.
• Supervise hydraulic modelling and hydraulic calculations for wet utility systems.
• Deliver designs to project schedules, design standards, and contract requirements.
• Coordinate wet utility design with other disciplines and incorporate best practice.
• Review technical progress, provide design updates, and check deliverables for quality.
• Present proposals to stakeholders and coordinate project submissions, reviews, and approvals.
• Report deviations from contract requirements and provide design inputs to other discipline reports as needed.
• Prepare cost and quantity estimates for wet services.
• Support continuous improvement and digital working, share lessons learned, and demonstrate safe, ethical, and inclusive behaviours.

Candidate specification

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional qualification such as CEng or similar, with professional institution membership such as ICE.
• Postgraduate and significant experience, preferably in a design consultancy.
• Experience across the design lifecycle, from master planning to detailed design.
• Strong experience designing pressurised and gravity systems using Civil3D and performing hydraulic modelling.
• Ability to manage design approvals and work with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Experience with infrastructure design and approvals in Saudi Arabia, and knowledge of local authority requirements, guidelines, and standards.
• Ability to manage multiple teams across geographically and culturally diverse settings.
• Strong oral and written communication, prioritisation, time management, and proactive problem-solving skills.
• ProjectWise, Infraworks, Navisworks, and OpenUtilities experience is preferable; short-term travel willingness is preferred.
