About SecurityScorecard
SecurityScorecard provides cybersecurity ratings and risk-management technology used by organizations to identify and address cybersecurity risks across their digital footprint.
About the role
This is the first and only Technical Program Manager embedded in engineering, reporting to the VP of Engineering.
The company is organizing engineering into 16–18 small squads across five technical domains; the role coordinates work across squad and domain boundaries.
The role owns program visibility, dependencies, and coordination systems, not delivery, product decisions, or technical decisions; there are no direct reports.
The existing PMO tracks programs at portfolio level; this position supplies accurate engineering-level inputs rather than duplicating PMO work.
Responsibilities
- Track programs crossing squad or domain boundaries from kickoff through completion; map dependencies and flag risks early.
- Build engineering status and visibility systems so leadership can see progress without requesting updates.
- Automate tracking, status, dependency alerts, and reporting with Jira, dashboards, scripts, and AI agents.
- Run planning syncs, sequencing reviews, and clear written communications across teams.
- Investigate stalled dependencies, connect the appropriate leads, and escalate unresolved issues to the VP of Engineering.
- Provide accurate engineering information to the PMO and support managers tracking quarter-long champion initiatives.
- Measure whether coordination becomes more efficient as engineering grows and improve the system when it does not.
- Document cross-team processes so new squads can join without individual walkthroughs.
Required qualifications
- Have 8 or more years of program or project management experience in engineering or technology organizations and 3 or more years at a B2B SaaS company.
- Have built coordination systems, tools, or processes that lasted beyond your tenure and have worked in fast-growing or changing organizations.
- Understand technical dependencies, architecture tradeoffs, and the SDLC well enough to work credibly with engineers; no computer science degree or coding experience is required.
- Be expert in Jira and comfortable administering it; be comfortable with dashboards and reporting tools.
- Have hands-on experience using AI tools to automate tracking, summarize status, or surface risk.
- Influence senior engineers, managers, and product leads without a reporting line; follow through persistently and build trust and clarity.
- Adapt to each team’s methodology rather than imposing a framework; write clear, direct updates and work comfortably with ambiguity.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in cybersecurity, defense, or security-focused products is preferred.
- Experience with programs crossing hardware, software, and operations boundaries or prior director-level or business-operations scope is preferred.
- Experience adapting Scrum, Kanban, or other agile practices to teams’ needs is preferred.
- Experience building agentic workflows or scripts for delivery reporting is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
- For candidates based in Canada, the estimated total compensation range is CAD 200,000–280,000 CAD, including base salary and bonus.
- For candidates based in U.S. locations, the posting lists an estimated total compensation range of CAD 180,000–240,000 USD, including base salary and bonus.
- Benefits vary by country and may include stock options, health benefits, unlimited paid time off, parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
Scope and working relationships
The VP of Engineering owns escalations, organization structure, and people decisions; this role provides the cross-domain picture and surfaces decisions requiring the VP’s attention.
Domain leads own squad sequencing and domain interfaces; squad leads own specifications, implementation, and delivery; architecture owns cross-domain design and standards.
Product managers own what gets built and why; the TPM turns those priorities into sequenced, visible plans across squads.
The PMO owns portfolio-level tracking and reporting; the TPM provides accurate engineering inputs.
