About AMT

Advanced Microsystems Technologies is a Sanmina division developing RF, microelectronic, optical components, and integrated subsystems.

AMT supports products from design concept and prototyping through testing, process development, assembly, and volume manufacturing.

Its programs include optical and RF communications, datacenter connectivity, quantum computing, automotive sensing, medical devices, and test and measurement systems.

Role purpose

Lead hardware design for optical transceivers as part of a cross-functional product development team.

The design group delivers product solutions from concept definition through volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead optical transceiver hardware design from concept to pre-production, including schematic capture, simulation, PCB design guidance, and verification testing.
  • Contribute to specification alignment, concept design, detailed design, and designer verification; understand electrical and optical requirements and MSA specifications.
  • Maintain hardware specifications and create firmware requirements documentation; ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, optical, microelectronics, firmware, process, and test engineers; review high-speed interface simulations and lead design reviews.
  • Create bills of materials and engineering change orders; coordinate part availability with program staff, buyers, planners, and suppliers.
  • Resolve design-for-manufacturing issues, support compliance with reliability and qualification teams, troubleshoot products, and improve yield.
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers.

Education and experience

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; M.S. or Ph.D. is an asset.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience required.
  • Strong analog and digital circuit design skills, including mixed-signal design and layout.
  • Knowledge of transceiver electrical design issues, including high-speed signal integrity, crosstalk, power noise and loss, soft start, ESD, and testing.
  • Strong optical and electrical laboratory measurement skills and background in high-density multilayer board design.
  • Knowledge of thermal and EMI management; experience with electronics CAD tools and electronic system modeling.
  • Understand microcontroller principles, SPI, I2C, MDIO, real-time control firmware, and digital communication theory.
  • RF design tools such as CST or HFSS; optical transceiver design, components, test methodologies, CWDM/DWDM networks, and IEEE Ethernet, OIF, or MSA standards are assets.

Compensation

  • Compensation range is $150,000–$200,000; cadence is not specified.
