Principal Economist, Innovation

Job Purpose

Key Accountabilities

• Implement the institution’s innovation strategy aligned with core priorities and vision
• Support senior management and teams in integrating innovation into policies and operations
• Design, coordinate, and monitor innovation initiatives, pilots, and PoCs
• Advise on methodologies (design thinking, agile experimentation, data-driven innovation)
• Develop and manage innovation toolkits, frameworks, and training materials
• Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and knowledge sharing
• Identify and assess new technologies, processes, and partnerships
• Liaise with external innovation ecosystems (international organizations, research centers, private sector)
• Contribute to governance structures and monitor innovation KPIs
• Build reporting mechanisms for innovation performance and impact
• Prepare analytical reports, presentations, and communication materials
• Engage country authorities and promote cross-country knowledge exchange.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

• Knowledge and Experience:
• Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in:
• Innovation strategy
• Organizational transformation
• Related fields (preferably in international, governmental, or large institutions)

Education

• Master’s degree in innovation, change management, or related field
• (or equivalent) in:
• Innovation management
• Public policy
• Business administration
• Technology management
• Or a related field
