Principal Data Architect

The role

What you'll do

• Define target-state architectures, data models, domain structures, and integration patterns aligned with business needs, standards, and non-functional requirements.
• Design scalable data platforms using technologies including Snowflake, dbt, and cloud-native services, considering performance, security, resilience, and cost.
• Architect modular microservices solutions with REST APIs, API gateways, and modern data ingestion and integration patterns.
• Establish consistent data modelling, naming, semantic definitions, and data-management standards.
• Translate business and technical requirements into architecture designs; assess source-system integration feasibility and validate solutions.
• Lead design reviews, evaluate architectural decisions, dependencies, and risks, and recommend ways to reduce implementation rework.
• Facilitate architecture discussions, prepare technical documentation and presentations, and contribute to governance forums.
• Guide delivery teams in applying agreed standards, design principles, and implementation best practices.

What we're looking for

• Extensive enterprise data architecture experience in financial services.
• Strong knowledge of modern data platforms and cloud data architectures.
• Experience designing data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, microservices, REST APIs, and API gateway integrations.
• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, data security, and architectural standards.
• Experience reviewing solution designs, evaluating risks and dependencies, and guiding cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, documentation, and presentation skills; able to engage senior technical stakeholders and governance forums.
