Role overview

Own the quality assurance approach across Whitbread data products and platforms within the Tech & Data team.

Work with Engineering, Product, Architecture, business teams, and external technology partners to embed quality through delivery.

What you'll do

  • Develop QA standards, testing frameworks, and automation strategy; define functional, integration, API, data validation, ETL/ELT, regression, performance, and UAT testing.
  • Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to set test scope and coverage; manage testing across releases and delivery streams.
  • Coordinate UAT planning, execution, and sign-off with business stakeholders; review test evidence, defects, and quality documentation.
  • Assess upstream changes and their impact on downstream products and integrations; escalate quality concerns and release risks.
  • Promote automation and continuous improvement; communicate quality metrics, release readiness, defect trends, and testing progress.

What we're looking for

  • QA Manager, Test Manager, or Release/Test Management experience, ideally in complex data-focused environments.
  • Strong test planning and strategy; advanced SQL and data validation and analysis.
  • API testing and experience with JSON, CSV, and structured datasets; ETL/ELT and data warehouse testing knowledge.
  • Hands-on data, API, and automation testing; UAT coordination and understanding of test automation frameworks.
  • Experience assessing change impacts across integrated systems; Agile delivery experience.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication, prioritization, analytical skills, attention to detail, and confidence making quality and risk decisions.

Additional desirable experience

  • Cloud-based data platforms; CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Data governance and data quality frameworks; QA team leadership; large-scale enterprise data environments.
  • Implementing a test automation strategy from initial concept through adoption.

Opportunity

  • Shape quality standards and automation across a broad range of products and projects and help teams deliver high-quality releases.

Compensation

  • Salary stated as £70,000–£75,000 plus bonus and benefits.

Workplace and employment

  • Permanent role with hybrid working at Whitbread Court.
