Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor prescriptions for errors and confirm that medications are appropriate and safe for each patient.
- Advise on medication dosage and the most appropriate medication form, including tablets, injections, ointments, and inhalers.
- Document relevant information accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
- Publish educational information for pharmacists, doctors, nurses, and patients.
- Participate in rounds, take patient drug histories, and support decisions about appropriate treatments.
- Store medicines appropriately and securely, and check and document medications at least monthly.
- Supervise less experienced and less qualified staff.
- Track the latest research and development advancements and establish and enforce clear drug-use guidelines.
- Provide information on drug expenditure.
- Prepare, measure, mix, and quality-check sterile and intravenous medications while maintaining a clean workspace and following safety protocols.
- Educate USRC teammates and new pharmacists, and double-check medication preparation with another staff member.
- Label high-alert medicines securely, maintain the crash cart medication box, and support quality improvement and patient safety activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
- At least one year of experience in a pharmacist role.
- Experience in a dialysis or hospital setting is preferred.
- Current Registered Pharmacist Licensure from a country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Licensure are required.
- Basic Life Support certification from the Saudi or American Heart Association is required.
