Pastry Sous Chef - Kuwait

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Support daily pastry and bakery operations and supervise production of pastries, cakes, desserts, breads, chocolates, and other bakery items.
• Ensure product standards and consistency in taste, quality, portioning, decoration, and presentation.
• Assist with production planning, mise en place, stock rotation, service readiness, and bulk production for events, displays, catering, and high-volume operations.
• Guide, train, and supervise junior pastry and bakery staff; monitor food cost, wastage, inventory, storage, and portion control.
• Maintain hygiene, food safety, cleanliness, and HACCP standards; assist with menus, seasonal items, special requests, and product development.
• Coordinate with operational teams, cover pastry leadership when the Executive Pastry Chef is absent, and support quality and efficiency improvements.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Pastry Sous Chef, Junior Pastry Sous Chef, Senior Pastry Chef, or similar role; strong experience in restaurants, hospitality groups, hotels, luxury cafés, bakeries, or high-volume F&B.
• Solid knowledge of pastry, bakery, desserts, cakes, chocolates, plated desserts, and production planning.
• Bulk production and multi-outlet pastry support experience is advantageous.
• Strong team supervision, communication, and training skills; understanding of food cost, inventory, portion control, and wastage reduction.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance; creative, organized, detail-oriented, and quality-focused.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment; professional attitude and problem-solving skills.
• International hospitality or multi-outlet experience is advantageous; willingness to relocate to Kuwait.
