The description seeks an experienced IP Operations Engineer for a client’s Network Operations team within Customer Operations.
The role provides technical ownership of complex live IP networks, with a focus on availability, performance, resilience and operational reliability.
The role emphasizes Nokia 7750 SR, WBX and VSR, IP/MPLS protocols, and Python scripting and automation.
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, operate and troubleshoot Nokia IP/MPLS infrastructure, including 7750 SR, WBX, VSR and Load Balancer platforms.
- Perform upgrades, patching, configuration changes, capacity expansion and lifecycle management.
- Operate and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VRF, VLAN, QoS and related IP services.
- Investigate routing, connectivity, packet loss, latency, congestion and availability problems; perform root cause analysis.
- Monitor KPIs, alarms, interfaces, traffic, routing and system health.
- Maintain configuration baselines, documentation, procedures, change plans, rollback procedures and technical reports.
- Support planned changes, maintenance, integration, acceptance, commissioning and migration of network elements and services.
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance; develop Python automation and identify operational improvements.
- Prepare periodic network health, capacity, availability, performance and fault-analysis reports.
Requirements
- Hands-on Nokia IP/MPLS experience in live telecom networks, including Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, VSR and Load Balancer products.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VRF, VLAN and QoS.
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting experience and strong Python scripting and automation skills.
- Good understanding of Linux and command-line troubleshooting.
- Experience with upgrades, migrations, configuration management, capacity expansion and change management.
- Understanding of network monitoring, KPI, incident and problem management, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to handle complex incidents independently and lead troubleshooting during critical events.
- Strong documentation, analytical, communication and coordination skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
- Able to work shifts supporting 24/7 operations.
