IP/MPLS L2 Engineer

Role overview

Network operations and maintenance

• Administer, configure, operate, and troubleshoot Nokia IP/MPLS infrastructure and Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, VSR, and Load Balancer platforms.
• Perform software upgrades, patching, configuration changes, capacity expansions, and network-element lifecycle management.
• Configure and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VRF, VLAN, QoS, and related IP services.
• Resolve routing, connectivity, packet loss, latency, congestion, traffic-flow, and service-availability issues; conduct incident root cause analysis.
• Monitor KPIs, alarms, interfaces, traffic utilization, routing status, and system health.
• Maintain configuration baselines, documentation, operational procedures, change plans, rollback procedures, and technical reports.
• Participate in planned changes and maintenance with risk assessment, validation, rollback readiness, and post-change verification.
• Support integration, acceptance, commissioning, and migration of network elements, services, and features.
• Lead preventive and corrective maintenance to maintain network availability and service quality.

Automation and reporting

• Develop Python scripts and tools for health checks, configuration validation, data collection, reporting, and repetitive network tasks.
• Identify network automation, operational efficiency, and process-improvement opportunities.
• Produce periodic network health-check, capacity, availability, performance, and fault-analysis reports.

Technical requirements

• Proven hands-on Nokia IP/MPLS experience in live telecom networks, including Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, VSR, and Load Balancer products.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VRF, VLAN, QoS, and IP routing.
• Strong Layer 2/Layer 3 troubleshooting across routing, switching, transport, and service connectivity.
• Strong Python scripting and practical network or operational task automation experience.
• Good understanding of Linux and command-line troubleshooting.
• Experience with upgrades, migrations, configuration management, capacity expansion, and change management.
• Understanding of network monitoring, KPIs, incident and problem management, and root cause analysis.

Additional qualifications

• Able to independently handle complex incidents and lead troubleshooting during critical network events.
• Excellent documentation, analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
• Able to work shifts to support 24/7 operations.
