Our client is a global tier-one industrial manufacturing leader specializing in advanced components and assemblies.
Currently establishing a significant presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, they are in an exciting plant launch phase.
Known for engineering excellence and supply chain innovation, they offer a dynamic environment for professionals looking to build high-impact systems from the ground up.
Role Description
The Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing protective, cost-efficient industrial packaging solutions specifically engineered for manufacturing parts.
Operating in a fast-paced plant launch environment, this role ensures that all components are securely contained, optimized for density, and fully protected across long-haul transit networks.
The successful candidate will blend technical design capabilities with logistics data, analyzing engineering blueprints and using advanced simulation software to deliver robust packaging configurations that minimize freight costs and eliminate transit damage.
Packaging Design & Engineering
- Analyze CAD blueprints of manufacturing parts to understand geometry, fragile points, and structural requirements.
- Engineer expendable (one-use) packaging arrays, including custom cartons, custom dunnage, corrugated shippers, and protective foam inserts.
- Develop robust, protective packaging architectures tailored to safe-guarding high-value or complex industrial components.
Cube Optimization & Logistics Efficiency
- Utilize specialized cube optimization and container loading software to maximize shipping space and container density.
- Calculate and design arrays to increase pallet yields, reducing overall freight expenses and footprint.
- Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to align packaging dimensions with standard freight configurations.
Transit Protection & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all engineered packaging designs provide maximum long-haul transit protection across international supply chains.
- Mitigate risk of part damage during handling, stacking, warehouse storage, and over-the-road or ocean transport.
- Validate prototype designs to guarantee they meet rigorous mechanical and physical transport demands.
Launch Phase & Supplier Collaboration
- Support the operational plant launch phase by rapidly executing packaging concepts from initial design to floor implementation.
- Work alongside cross-functional manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to define supplier packaging specifications.
Requirements
- **Experience:**
- 2 to 6 years of proven experience in packaging engineering, industrial packaging design, or structural logistics packaging.
- **Technical Skills:**
- Strong proficiency in analyzing 2D/3D CAD blueprints and working with structural engineering concepts.
- **Software Mastery:**
- Active experience utilizing advanced container loading or pallet/cube optimization software (e.g., TOPS PRO, Cape Pack, or equivalent).
- **Domain Expertise:**
- Demonstrated experience engineering expendable (one-use) packaging arrays, custom dunnage, corrugated materials, and protective foam.
- **Core Competencies:**
- Clear understanding of long-haul transit dynamics, protective packaging physics, and space maximization.
- **Candidate Profile:**
