Overview

We are seeking a skilled Oracle Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Oracle database environments.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in installations, upgrades, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security enforcement, supporting both on-premise and cloud-based systems (Azure, OCI) Knowledge of Exadata, Oracle RAC, and other advanced Oracle technologies is highly desirable.

Database Installation, Configuration & Upgrades

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases (11g to 23ai).
  • Install and upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure (11g,12c, 18c, 19c, and now 23ai).
  • Manage database storage using ASM, ACFS, and traditional file systems.
  • Configure alerts for critical incidents.
  • Manage ASM disks, disk groups, celldisks, and griddisks (including Exadata).

Daily Operations & Monitoring

  • Monitor database alerts and OEM dashboards.
  • Configure and monitor alerts for critical incidents.
  • Perform user and role management, grant privileges.
  • Schedule and manage jobs using DBMS_SCHEDULER or OS-level cron.
  • Perform query tuning and analyze execution plans.
  • Generate database health checks and capacity reports.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to space, connectivity, and performance.
  • Support patching activities under L3 supervision

Backup & Recovery

  • Implement and monitor backup strategies using RMAN and Data Pump.
  • Perform manual and scheduled backups.
  • Validate backup logs, restore non-critical/test environments.
  • Manage partition-level backups and data retention.
  • Familiar with TDE Key Administration.

Maintenance Tasks

  • Monitor and resize tablespaces.
  • Perform index rebuilds and statistics collection.
  • Reorganize fragmented tables and reclaim storage.
  • Apply PSU patches and bug fixes.
  • Clean up obsolete data/files.
  • Familiarity with Datafile Shrink operations.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

  • Support Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate implementations.
  • Design and implement HA/DR solutions for business-critical systems.
  • Participate in DR drills and validate DR runbooks.

Performance Tuning

  • Perform advanced performance troubleshooting using AWR, ADDM, ASH, SQLT.
  • Optimize SQL using indexes, SQL plan baselines, optimizer hints.
  • Address query bottlenecks and system waits.
  • Correlate performance at the OS and DB levels.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement Oracle Database Vault, TDE, VPD, and Data Masking.
  • Manage audit policies and ensure CIS/NIST compliance.
  • Enforce access control via Database Vault and monitor unauthorized activity.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec on hardening and compliance requirements.

Automation & Scripting

  • Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell scripting.
  • Develop custom scripts for monitoring and alerting.
  • Assist in building self-healing and predictive monitoring capabilities.

Change & Incident Management

  • Handle incidents using ITSM tools (e.g., ManageEngine).
  • Raise, track, and resolve issues with Oracle Support (SRs).
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure change documentation and approvals are in place.
  • The responsibilities and duties outlined above are not exhaustive and may evolve over time.
  • The role may require additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager or higher authorities, in alignment with organizational needs.

Education

  • Educated with at least bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle Database (11g – 23ai), RAC, Grid Infrastructure
  • In-depth knowledge of the following tools and technologies:
  • Oracle Database (11g – 23ai), RAC, Grid Infrastructure

• ASM, ACFS, ZFS, Exadata

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Azure for Oracle

• Shell Scripting (Bash, Korn)

  • ITSM Tools (ManageEngine, etc.)
  • Proficient in English
  • Proficient in Arabic

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of solid experience as an Oracle Database Administrator

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

  • Experience with Exadata or Oracle Database Appliance
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud (OCI)
  • Familiarity with Oracle Multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB)
  • Basic Linux administration (OEL, RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS)
  • Exposure to other DB platforms: SQL Server, MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in high-pressure environments
