Assistant Store Managers report to the Store Manager and oversee associates, sales, customer service, safety, product availability, appearance, and store profitability.
The Operations Assistant Manager oversees the Customer Service Desk, Pro Operations, Receiving, Tool Rental, Order Fulfillment, Lot Loaders, and Back Office, and may manage Day Freight.
Key responsibilities
- Drive customer service and associate engagement; coach teams, resolve customer concerns, and ensure timely order fulfillment and communication.
- Support hiring, training, task delegation, performance management, associate development, succession planning, and engagement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety and hazmat procedures, training, PPE, safe lifting, checklists, and corrective actions; manage worker compensation, liability, and property damage claims.
- Develop sales and profitability strategies, analyze reporting, manage shrink and expenses, and oversee front-end and back-end operations.
- Coordinate staffing with truck schedules, merchandise receiving, accurate records, and daily business reconciliation.
- Perform manager-on-duty opening, closing, kickoff, handoff, staffing, and store-readiness tasks.
- Maintain equipment, merchandising, cleanliness, and organization throughout the store.
Minimum qualifications
- At least 1 year of work experience.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through high school diploma and/or GED completion.
- Physical demands include continuous standing or walking, or regular handling or carrying of materials or equipment weighing 8–20 pounds.
Working conditions and travel
- The role is located in a comfortable indoor store area; unpleasant conditions are infrequent and not objectionable.
- No travel is required.
Pay range
- The stated pay range is $60,000–$70,000; no compensation cadence is specified.
